地理環境位於冷與熱交界地，有「氣候溫
和、環境優美」之意，因而取名和美。早期紡
織工業及製傘業發達，擁有「織傘的故鄉」
之美譽。國道3號設有交流道，南來北往交通
便捷。鎮內著名的「道東書院」、「陳家洋
樓」、「阮氏宗祠」更展現經濟與文化並茂的
優點。
